I have yet to find an easier, more beneficial routine.
How is your health? But seriously, how is it?
Maybe you have some chronic pain or nagging injuries, inflammation, low-energy or balance issues.
Perhaps you are living with hypertension, heart, lung, kidney, liver diseases or digestive problems and would love to find a holistic solution that doesn't involve more medication.
Or maybe you could use some relief with anxiety disorders, stress, depression or obsessive behavior.
As a Tai Chi and Qigong teacher, I get asked about solutions to a wide range of conditions. If you are new to Tai Chi and Qigong and not operating at your peak performance, this is the routine that I recommend for anyone to ignite and regenerate your health.
Known as Taiji Qigong Shibashi (Set 1), this hybrid of Tai Chi and Qigong includes 18 movements for relaxation, gentle stretching and muscular development.
Based on the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) theory that sickness is caused by excesses, deficiences or stagnations of the qi, Shibashi can help to rectify such imbalances and bring about a state of well-being.
And inside you will turn off the over-active mind and be guided through a 20-minute, low-impact moving meditation that re-awakens your energy and potential.
In-Studio Instruction - The full routine from 2 angles with detailed narration of the choreography, breathwork and how to direct the flow of qi. Also included is an introduction to basic TCM terms, qigong principles and a very important warm-up section.
The rest of the flows are filmed outdoors at Laguna Beach, California.
20 Minute Flow With Breathing Prompts - The full routine with healing frequency background music, sound bowl tones letting you know when to inhale and exhale, and on screen instructions of what to visualize for each movement.
15 Minute Flow - The full routine, but only 4X for each movement instead of the normal 6X, with relaxing background music.
2 Mini Sets - Mini sets are wonderful stand alone routines for those with a shorter amount of time, or those who have less stamina. Included is a 5 minute set of movements 1-4, and a 10 minute set of movements 5-10.
Stepping Flow - This 5 minute stepping routine composed of movements 11-15 will impove your feet, legs and weight shifting awareness to give you more confidence in walking and prevent future fall related injuries.
This classic Taoist principle is the key to understanding Tai Chi and Qigong. It is the opposite of today's modern work hard culture that gain requires pain.
By coordinating deep breathing, with meridian targeted loosening movements and positive visualizations, you will let your qi flow like a river, as your thoughts become still as a mountain.
A holistic complementary therapy to treat:
Hypertension, heart disease, low blood pressure, inflammation of the lungs, bronchitis, shortness of breath, asthma, diabetes.
Liver disease, hepatitis, kidney disease, bladder function, digestive issues (intestines/stomach/spleen).
Chronic fatigue syndrome, insomnia, anxiety disorders, depression, suffocation feelings, irritability, stress, obsessive behavior.
Back problems, balance issues, shoulder/elbow/wrist pain and inflammation, leg strength, vertigo, paralysis of the limbs.
I've broken down this popular exercise routine for you to be a no-brainer.
Just follow along and feel what it's like to reclaim your energy.
